Understanding Our Model

Jamaa Waqf operates as a peer-to-peer mutual aid platform. When you make a contribution, you are directly helping another community member. This is not an investment, loan, or purchase of services.

Contributions are gifts of mutual aid between community members, not payments for services.

Contribution Status

Pending Contributions

If your contribution has not yet been confirmed by the recipient, you may request cancellation. To cancel a pending contribution:

  • Navigate to your Dashboard
  • Find the pending contribution
  • Click "Cancel Contribution" before it's confirmed

Confirmed Contributions

Once a contribution has been confirmed as received by the recipient:

  • The contribution is complete and final
  • No refund is available as the funds have been transferred
  • This is by design as a mutual aid platform

Refund Eligibility

When Refunds May Be Possible

  • System errors: Technical issues that resulted in duplicate or incorrect transactions
  • Fraud: If you were a victim of verified fraudulent activity on our platform
  • Failed transfers: If funds did not reach the intended recipient due to technical issues

When Refunds Are Not Available

  • Confirmed and completed contributions
  • Change of mind after contribution
  • Dissatisfaction with the mutual aid model
  • Expected returns that were not guaranteed

Contributions are voluntary acts of mutual aid. Please only contribute what you can afford to give.

Membership Fees

Non-Refundable Fees

Community membership fees are generally non-refundable as they support community operations. However, you may be eligible for a refund if:

  • Your membership application was rejected
  • You were charged in error
  • You cancel within 24 hours of joining and have not participated

Requesting a Fee Refund

To request a membership fee refund, contact us within 7 days of the charge with your reason for the request.

Disputes

If you have a dispute regarding a contribution or transaction:

  • First, try to resolve the issue directly with the other party through our messaging system
  • If unresolved, file a formal dispute through your Dashboard
  • Our dispute resolution team will review and mediate
  • Final decisions are binding on all parties

Please note that filing a chargeback with your bank while a dispute is pending may result in account suspension.

How to Request a Refund

If you believe you are eligible for a refund:

  • Email us at support@jamaawaqf.com
  • Include your account email and transaction details
  • Explain the reason for your refund request
  • Attach any supporting documentation

We aim to respond to all refund requests within 5 business days. Approved refunds are processed within 7-14 business days depending on your payment method.
